2Print CD DVD Digital Printer - Details

Back in the early eighties when the optical disc was first introduced it was considered and at that time certainly was a giant leap forward for audio storage and reproduction. And for many years was produced only by the majors record companies around at the time, with operators and staff dressed ready for the next mission to the moon. The quantity of discs produced for each album was large, but with independent replicators and then duplicators producing a very wide range of recorded material the numbers required for any one title dropped dramatically making the printing process a serious bottleneck and above all very costly. Back at the turn of the century technology required to print digital onto discs still lacked what was necessary, but during the early two-thousands Tapematic gained a vast experience in the inkjet process and especially in the UV process and general know-how, so that in 2005 when technology allowed results to be acceptable. Tapematic produced the world's first optical disc printer and called it 2Print.

Similar to the thirty years in tape loading, Tapematic made a practical machine which allowed customers to simply print discs without complications or changing the method or process to date. The simple fact of providing an in-line white flood station, standard spindles and a disc which matches the off-set disc has made 2Print the accepted way to digitally print a disc.

The advantages that a dedicated digital printer offers the optical media is tremendous but just the cost per disc savings alone has made it a winner with many tens of units being sold within the first year of its launch.

Today 2Print is offered in a number of different versions from a single head per four colour model to a dual head six colour version. In addition the inkjet printing process does not produce any twisting, distortion or unbalance of the disc, this is because there is no actual contact with the disc and the amount of ink laid down is under ten microns making it perfect for printing onto products such as DVD-9 and the latest blu-ray discs.
